Spamming via dolorosa with feral chaos

I recently posted a thread about the labyrinth and someone suggested using feral chaos' move via dolorosa.
I dug in to some articles and watched some youtube vids and found out that spamming via dolorosa is actually a pretty good way to get to the end of the labyrinth.

However I am not so sure what people mean excactly with "spamming". I tried spamming through a part in the labyrinth by standing at my starting point and just clicking the [] button like crazy. This worked for most characters and levels but when I met onion knight I got my butt kicked, hard. I figured spamming might mean finding a good spot on the map to stand, dodging, and, whenever possible, using via dolorosa.
So I need some help from people who have used feral chaos in the labyrinth and used a spamming technique, because the onion knight, feral chaos and ultimecia still give me a headache (especially if they hit 2500 with a bravery attack )

Also I could use a good setup for his abilities. So far I use the following:
- no bravery attacks
- via dolorosa and ventus Ire (in case I do get hit and sent flying) for hp attacks
- actions:
---Ground & Midair evasion
---Ground & midair block
---Aerial recovery (in case I get hit)
---Recovery attack (ditto)
---Controlled recovery (ditto)
- support:
---always target
---ex core lock on
---auto assist lock (really useful because when spamming, an assist can f**k you up)
- extra
--- disable bravery redution
--- disable EX gauge lock (to block an HP combo when I get hit)
--- disable assist lock (ditto)
--- exp to hp

This leaves about 40cp to spend.
I'm thinking of buying all the lores from the shop and purchasing all the "_____ gear's" with them so I can equip any item I find on the way.
That will cut out a little of the 40cp but still leave some, I was thinking of maybe precission Evasion or else a disable ____ ability. Counter attack, first strike, and that sort of abilities don't help since I'm only using hp attacks.


So long story short,
1. Is spamming with feral chaos really only smashing the square button or should I use dodges and only spam when there is an opening?
2. What characters/maps should I avoid to face in the labyrinth?
3. Is my setup of abilities good or should I change it? Note: I'm only looking for a spamming setup not a regular setup.

the second part of course. if you only stand still pressing square, its gonna be easy for the AI to punish you. Wait for them to screw up, then punish accordingly. also, id strongly suggest getting chippers as party members. they make this alot easier

well wide open areas gives the ai more room to run and dodge, making spamming VD less effective. as for characters, really, they shouldnt be too much of a threat. they may be able to hit for 2500 per hit, but they are still AIs, so exploit the weaknesses that they have

change it. Youre going to need a brave attack (*cough* brute force *cough*) somewhere in there. and dues iratus looks good on him too. if you need spare cp, put the heros ____ on him, or you can drop one of the blocks because they arent completely necessary (for the most part, the insane priority and speed your regular attacks will protect you). btw dont waste your gil on _____ gear for feral chaos either, because chances are you wont be using him much after this.
