UPDATES IN RED!
Very simple. I'll explain what you need:
- A friend.
- Both players choose Bartz (he can equip everything)
- The "Titan" summon (or anything that will make the fight quick)
- Luck items such as:
-Fake Mustache (LUK +10)
-Rabbit's Foot (LUK +8, Summon Recharge +2)
-Lucky Charm (LUK +4, Summon Recharge +1)
-Rosetta Stone (LUK +4, components)
-Any Lores (LUK +4, components)
-Anything else that has the components of a Rosetta Stone
The reason for all the luck is that it helps artifacts drop more frequently. It also has the fringe benefit of making the accessories and components of those accessories (Water, Wind, and Life Stones) drop like crazy. This means many Rosetta Stones and Lores! The Summon recharge helps Titan recharge faster (obviously).
- The gear you'll be converting to artifacts. Here is some info on equipment type and trades:
+ Equipment Sets (Genji, Lufenian, etc.) starts with 0 trades.
+ Recipe equips that are useful when making artifacts (piggy's stick, excalipoor etc.) start with 4.
+ Most others start with 16 trades.
+ Wyrmhero Blade starts with 50 trades. (!)
So for example, you can use Thornlet head gear (+500 BRV, -5% brv on block and -3% on dodge) to make artifacts, and it will keep the +500 BRV, lose the negative effect, and start with 4 trades. For weapons just save the trouble of making an artifact weapon and use Wyrmhero Blade. All you would need is to get Equip Swords ability, which is only 10 CP.
EDIT: The artifact upgrade system is divided into tiers. Low, Mid, and Top tier abilities. I had only listed Top cause that's really what you should be shooting for, and they are just upgraded versions of the Mid and Low tier abilities. So, depending on the number of trades on the item, it will have access to different tiers of abilities. I do know that at 46 trades an item begins getting the Top tier abilities and stops getting Mid and Low tier abilities.
The Process:
Equip everything listed above and enter battle. Have one Bartz use Titan and have the other use any HP attack. Dark Lance is good. Once the Bartz that used Titan has enough brave to kill he should finish off the other Bartz. This should continue back and forth until each person gets a piece from the same equip slot. Once this happens exit online mode and go to the Artifact screen. Once each player confirms that they both have the copy of the artifact, the artifact with less trades is sold and the trade starts over.
For example: After the first battle, Bartz 1 gets "Hand Artifact B" from Bartz 2. Next round, Bartz 2 gets "Hand Artifact A" and "Body Artifact A" from Bartz 1. They exit to the Artifact screen and Bartz 1 asks how many trades "Hand Artifact A" has on it. Bartz's "Hand Artifact A" (which he has equipped now) has 4 trades on it, and Bartz 2 tells Bartz 1 that his "Hand Artifact A" has 5 trades on it. So Bartz 1 can safely sell his "Hand Artifact A" and Bartz 2 will equip the "Hand Artifact A" that he has. Just repeat this for each character.
EDIT: I forgot to add, once you get to 46 trades, top tier abilities will start showing up and mid and low tier abilities will stop showing up. It does not matter what you name your artifacts. If you get an ability you dont want, you can just immediately hit the "Home" button on the PSP and exit right away. You will still have the artifact there to be renamed.
For the most part that's it. If anyone has any questions or if anything wasn't clear just post about it.
Here's the top tier Abilities that you can get. They are just buffed versions of the mid and lower tier abilities and show up at 46 to 50 trades.
Update: I just did some testing on Mastery of Brave, Land Profiteer, and Mysteries of the Theurgical (math/numbers help from my cousin/Wedge), and from what I can see they have NOT changed the effects on the artifact armor. The only thing I'm not certain about is the EX Seeker and EX Conqueror abilities, because they're a bit harder to gauge.
From playing with the artifact gear on, it doesn't seem any more potent than the Genji, Adamant, or Lufenian set. This would open up a wide variety of possible equipment builds, or be great supplements to existing builds you may have, without being "overpowered".

Set Penalties Update
Things like "Overwork" Or "EX Dearth", are equip limitations. For example: If you equip 3 of an item with "Overwork", you will only get the bonus of one of the artifact peices. To test this I put on 2 peices of EX Conqueror and looked at the stat screen. It shows you get the +4 LUK from having both on. Once you equip a third EX Conqueror you lose only 2 LUK, leading me to believe only one of the EX Conqueror pieces is generating an effect.
REMEMBER: Take all of this information with a grain of salt. It's from the JP version and things may have been changed. Also it's all I could glean from the various text translators I used. If anyone can get anything else from these Japanese sites which I got this information from, that'd be peachy. I can't think of anything else to add at the moment, but I'll be sure to edit this post with any other information that comes to mind.

The master knows his own mastery and does not see any real point of being modest about it.
