Vaan's abs' abbreviation means "Abnormalities"
yet another reason that balthier should be the main character in the game...

I would've thought Ashe would be a more suitable main character, the story mostly being around her and her being the Princess or whatever
Vaan looks extremely dirty, his "abs" makes him look like he went for a roll in a mud pit. The shading on Vaan gives the same "dirty" look as well lol.
And I must say this, Vaan is the most, er, "useless" main character ever.
You don't know jack squat about him, he doesn't evolve as a character, he plays no role in the plot, he's just a kid wanting to be a sky pirate(Not to mention the character interaction was absolutely HORRIBLE in this game, none of them were actually "friends" except Vaan+Penelo).
I don't see why they didn't use Ashe, she is the real main character here.
You can see how flawed ff12 is by the implementation of Gabranth in Dissidia, Gabranth killed the king(Right?) in the beginning then dissappears until the end.
Basch is not even the main character but Gabranth is his brother/archenemy.
To me FF12 was just.....Off-balance, this game was a hiccup from two companies forming for the first time I believe, because ff13 was awesome.

Didn't SE make some games before 12?
I'm pretty sure they did, so it wasn't their "first time mistake"
Or they forgot to equip First Strike to do maximum damage.
SE made FFX-2, but companies work on multiple projects at the same time.
It's highly likely that they made X-2 while FF12 was being developed.
And ROFL @ the First strike comment haha! =P

XII was being developed when IX and X were being finished.
I see WHAT they tried to do with Vaan. They tried to do what they did with Tidus: Get a oblivious protagonist to be able to keep on the same page as the player.
That way when Vaan doesn't know something the player wouldn't know either, the question is answered. But he did turn out useless and no one really liked him.
Exactly Kraid, with your examples of Tidus and Vaan you can clearly see what Vaan lacked which made him a failed protagonist(If that's how you spell it lol).
Tidus grew as a character, and became attached to his fellow guardians and learned about their past as well as Zanarkand's.
With Vaan you just knew that he had an older brother in the war and got killed. And even THAT bit of info was useless along with the murder of the king.
And not only that, but Vaan's personally sent me through a loop. At first he seems reckless and fun, but as the story progressed he just turned out to be a boring dud. Penelo had more of a character than Vaan lol.
But I must say Baltheir made me laugh a few times, he was the best character by far in my opinion =p.
