The promise land is said to be found only by the Cetra(If I remember correctly) and they thought Jenova was a Cetra at first and thus so is Sephiroth so he mentions the promiseland but I think the promiseland is the place that will not die even if energy from it is collected.

diferent people view the promised land diferently
shinra belived that it was just an energy source with in the planet(i belive)
the certa belived that it was a place that could be reached
sephiroth thought it was a place that could be created
and other i think saw it more as a metaphore or an ideology

im just curious how cloud views the promised land
does he truely belive in it or is he just there to stop sephiroth

Cloud most likely wanted to stop Sephiroth first and foremost. However, in the ending, it's implied he acknowledges some kind of Promised Land, because he believes Aeris is there. It doesn't really say what he thinks it is though.

Anyways, back on topic, in all instances mentioned so far, it has all been speculation on Aeris' part. We can say for sure that she has feelings for Cloud, but I can't recall a time that Cloud returns them. Aeris dragging him out on a Gold Saucer date is just that: she called him out, he went with it. And every other time he thinks of her after her death, it feels more like his guilt over letting a good friend die. Just my opinion, as it's obvious by now that I believe the best pairings are Cloud x Tifa, and Zack x Aeris. Anyways, this argument has been going on for over 10 years now and there is no end in sight, so the person he should go for is clear:

Since Cloud wasn't able to do a thing to save Aeris by the time Sephy killed her, it was guilt and the fact that she is a friend and a very important person to Zack whom Cloud owes his life.

On a serious note, Cloud seems more leaning towards Tifa ever since he got out of freakin' Zack syndrome. And due to Crisis Core, it's been apparent that Aerith has eyes only for Zack and she should be diagnosed for a mental issue if that's the case. XD

Simple, Cloud wanted to have a threesome with Tifa and Aerith. His plan failed when Sephiroth killed Aerith, Cloud feels sad he never got the chance to do it and he didn't want Yuffie because she's too loli.

But really, he's in love with Tifa. Anyone who's played the game all the way through would know that. Vaan's just throwing a hissy fit because he doesn't like Tifa. He probably loved Aerith too, but not the way he loved Tifa. Furthermore, anyone who has played Crisis Core all the way through would know that Zack and Aerith had a much heavier relationship than Cloud and Aerith. Hell, she wrote him like what, 50 letters for three years or something? Anyway, Aerith was only trying to be with Cloud because she was missing Zack. They could never be together, but Tifa and Cloud set up a "family" in Advent Children, and they're pretty much the parents. And yes, they had sex under the airship. There's no excuse for Tifa to fall out in the floor in embarrassment otherwise.
