An update on the IRC channel:

Due to the fact that #Dissidia has grown empty and many have moved to #DDFFCasual, we've decided to "abandon" #Dissidia and use #DDFFCasual as the only channel for any and all Dissidia-related discussion. All links on the forums will be updated, naturally you'll have to update your own bookmarks yourself.

Note that the forums and IRC channel are kept seperate. Any forum problems have to be addressed on the forums, while any IRC problems will have to be addressed on IRC. This will keep it easy for you and easy for us, the staff.

Since this community is rapidly growing, now might be a good time to finally introduce an IRC channel! What's IRC, you ask? IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat and is basically a chatbox, only more convenient, due to its features. IRC should be extra convenient to us Dissidia players, since it'd be a great way to quickly challenge someone to a match! IRC is also the easiest way to contact me, since I'm on there for the bigger part of the day.

The channel is #DDFFCasual, located on irc.irchighway.net.

Don't know how to get on IRC? No problem, it's easy. The most commonly used method is the program mIRC, which can be downloaded from mirc.com. Just install it and click here to enter the channel. If you want to know more about connecting to IRC, check out the tutorial below:

1. When opening mIRC for the first time, you'll be represented with a screen asking for some information. Just fill out your name, email address, enter your nickname and an alternative nickname. Now click OK.
2. Your basic information has been saved now, next up is connecting to the server. At the bottom of the mIRC screen, there's a small textbar used for writing chats and entering commands. In that bar, type /server irc.irchighway.net. If you're already connected to another server, type /server -m irc.irchighway.net. You'll now get connected to IRCHighway.
3. Once you're connected to IRCHighway, you'll have to join the channel. To do this, type /join #DDFFCasual and you're in! It's really easy.
4. To keep your nickname safe from others, you can register it. Do this by typing /nickserv REGISTER yourpassword youremailaddress. Follow the commands on-screen and the nick will now belong to you. Remember, though, every time you connect to IRCHighway, you'll have to "login" to your nickname. To do this, type /nickserv IDENTIFY yourpassword.
5. Once you're all set, you can safely keep mIRC running in the background. No virusses or whatever are going to be sent to you, nor does mIRC eat a lot of system resources.

These are only the basics. You can automate every command performed during startup, but that's a bit more into the advanced user direction. For now, this should suffice. If you have any questions regarding IRC, feel free to ask me in the channel. I've been an IRC idler for almost 10 years and know just about everything there is to know, about it.

Alternatively, you can use IRCHighway's convenient webchat applet. This requires no installation of programs or knowledge of IRC, you just enter your nickname and hit "Connect." The rest should speak for itself.

I will always be on whenver im not doing battles an dlooking for fresh players. An IRC channel is exactly what you should use for quick battles.

yea, its alot easier to communicate on there while playing with adhoc
