Final Fantasy XIII might be last true Final Fantasy

And if this would be a "finalfantasyforums" i would probably be flamed with hate but this is DissidiaForums. Most in here like the fighting system, not the turn based stuff, like me. Right? =p

I love FF8 both in Gameplay (spam draw heheh) and Story. But FF13 is a very bad way to round up the FF series gameplay wise... Or rather, if they are gonna keep on making games it is great they will change the gameplay system because FF13 system sucks. I love the story but i don't want to have to farm and farm and waste time. Little skill used in that game. Even if you are skilled, like me, it doesn't matter because the CPU doesn't do what you want. You still have to farm, level up and waste time... I can go on pretty long about FF13 system. But damn it is annoying! ... That's why i use my trusty friend YT to watch others do the horrible gameplay and go through the wonderful cutscenes and stuff ^^ Like a movie! =D


So i say great that they're going on about revolution! It's needed for FF i think. And they won't lose me as a fan =D As a matter of fact i am a little bit into developing with them. I made a Rinoa movelist, with alot of details. In Dissidia style... ^^ If they make another Final Fantasy fighting game ( Saw a vid they are not gonna keep up with Dissidia but they may make another FF game with the same concept as Dissidia) Rinoa better be in it!

In that respect, I feel like there can never really be a "last true Final Fantasy" until the next installment is a different genre entirely. Like if they had Final Fantasy I as an RPG, but then released Final Fantasy II as a platformer to try and contend with Mario - THAT'S where it'd be totally out of the series.

I actually had the same feeling about that too. I've noticed they always have 3 roman numeral Final Fantasies for each console... but I think they're about to break that tradition. Considering we are approaching the end of this generation of consoles, and Square Enix has made no announcement of any FFXV and has it's hands full with all these spin offs, making it likely they haven't even started on it, and the fact that lately they've become masters of delaying release dates (That was quite a run-off.), how in the world are they going to make FFXV before PS3 and 360 become obsolete?

Quick Solution:
1. Take Final Fantasy Versus XIII
2. Cross out the Versus XIII part
3. Slap a XV on there

...and BOOM!

Versus XIII could easily stand by itself as one of the main roman numerals. I don't think anyone would really mind that much if they did a last minute renaming. I don't even see why or how it needs to be connected to XIII since it seems hardly related.

Ever since square merge w enix, all final fantasy we get is a mmorpg (xi), a rpg with main characters that doesn't feel like mcs (xii), no ffxiii is cool but xiv is another mmorpg... the final fantasy series must continue!
