It was difficult for me too, and I had to look up info for help a couple of times. I was most frustrated when I was unknowingly on my way to Bahamut. I took out a Behemoth but then lost to a some regular ol' enemies right after that 'cause they just beat me down too fast, argh.
Still, once I looked up said help, it was easier, and I even played through it all over again, loved those Augments, couldn't believe what I'd missed.
Bahamut was very PREDICTABO for me. All he can do is MegaFlare. >.>
The Behemoths in the way are harder than Bahamut himself... For shame, Hallowed Father to all Eidolons.
Dark Bahamut, however, is a different story. But the boss that gave me the most trouble was the Lunasaur... Freaking Bad Breath. Everyone kept getting Toad'd and/or confused. Dx

The battle that pissed me off the most was fighting the Princess Flans actually. Mass Berserk casting wtf. DX I attempted to farm for Pink Tails and Rainbow Pudding with these things, but the battles were so tedious that I didn't want to bother. And by tedious, I meant that I had to set up Cecil with Crystal Mail, Counter, and Draw Attacks, put my DS down and watch the flans slowly chip away at Cecil's HP and hope that he survives long enough to kill them. Since I gave up on this, I never finished the Namingway quest. :<

oh yeah, about aguments, some recomendations
Cecil - bonus exp (because he's always in)
Rosa - 2x Cast (she becomes your only WM)
I heard cry was good for Kain,
and twin would probably be best for Cecil and Rosa (Ultima)
and I just wanted to add that

Spoiler:
Personally, I think it would be easier to farm Rainbow Puddings from Yellow Flans in Antlion's Den... They appear pretty often in B2F (since they and Adamantoises are the only things that appear there) and are easy to kill. But then again, I wouldn't know which is better. I was lucky enough to get a Rainbow Pudding when I went there for the first time. :p
Also, there's a fast (albeit costly) way of killing the Flan Princess. Buy a bunch of Stardusts from Tomra, then set it as the first command for Cecil, along with Counter and Draw Attacks. Then he should kill everything in about 3 Stardusts (2 if he has Mage Masher equipped).

I played FFIV DS like I played FFIV. So as you can imagine I got obliterated by CPU, Attacker and Defender, and of course Bahamut (since if I recall he's very different in this version of the game.)
Lugae was a shock also, but somehow I got through it. Didn't have Elixers to OHKO him. I didn't start using Augments till the end, where I destroyed Zeromus due to a set up which pretty much prevented me from dying at all times.
I heard about the Stardust method, but either two things happened: either I 1) didn't have enough money to stock up when I was there, 2) I was too far into the dungeon and didn't want to backtrack because I just wanted to finish the game at this point.
And yea, the Yellow Flans do drop the Pudding, but the chance is lower (something like 1/100 chance, while Princess Flan was something like 1/64). >< I did try fighting in the Antlion's Den also, but didn't get a single drop. D: My luck must be horrible.

I beat him on the first try...I levelled all my characters to the max for no reason besides the fact that I started powerlevelling and didn't know when to stop. XD
