    Default Question about Non-EX Gabranth

So I've been trying Gabranth, and I know he isn't great in non-ex, so he only has 1 brave attack with me, which is the double slash in the air.

    Is this a good idea?

My acc. build is good enough that one strike from that should fill up my ex gauge, but still, I'm not expert on Gabranth.

    Not really.

And circle of judgement is better.

In Non-EX your gonna be dodging and blocking alot So your gonna want Sentence to hit em quick when you dodge but if you Block instead of dodge circle of judgment or lunge is your best bet

I think all his skills except sentence initiates chases, go for those, as chase fills up your Ex-gauge horribly quick, thats if you have close to you

Gabranth's "Non-Ex-Mode" mode is definitely a handicap, and you can further appreciate his Exmode because of that. Gabranth may be handicapped in "Non-Ex-Mode," but he has "superpowers" no other character has, and they are very intimidating to others.

Handicapped Gabranth is slightly below average in everything from stats to his move set. You would defiantly want to spend more time in ex mode, but ...

What can be said of "handicap" Gabranth?

I find it that one has to switch strategies completely in order to play him outside of ex. If you want to stay longer in handicap mode then it is advisable you equip more brave attacks. Otherwise, save the CP for something else.

I find that Sentence is very useful overall either executed after your opponent blocks, after your dodge, punishing wiffs, or even as an offensive move. It closes distances and if connected can do a bit of damage especially with abilities like sneak attack and/or counter attack. No to mention that you can also combo from this move after ex mode execution. See here.

As for Circle of Judgment, it is also a good move and probably a better choice to use in situations where using Sentence might move you into getting hit by some attacks before their frame ends. It also can hit at a distance. You don't need to be too close to your opponent. Also this move can reflect some magical spells. If that isn't enough, might I add that it looks pretty cool as well.

There is also a move called Lunge, and it might suit you better if you need to vary your ground game for some reason. I haven't really analyzed or used this move much so I can't tell you the details. Also it seems that this move can be easily blocked if used offensively since it has a noticeable start up.

I would recommend having at least two moves either on ground or air, probably air more, so that you can vary them and be less predictable.

Now I suggest that you equip both EX Charge for ground and for Air.
This is Gabranth's "superpower" that both charges your ex and intimidates most opponents who are annoyed by your free ride. So you both have a charging ability and a psychological attack.

Try experimenting and see what suits you better. On a side-note just because you can get your ex mode fast, it may be to your advantage to delay using ex mode for an ex guard or ex cancel. You also don't want to leave yourself "helpless" if you happen to run out of ex in the middle of the battle.

Also in Ad-Hoc games it is not as easy to get ex filled and keep it as safe especially against others who use ex depletion and ex sets. You always wanna know that you can handle your opponent even with a handicap.

So in non-ex, drain your opponent of bravery using a combination of brave attacks and defeat them psychologically with an allure of Ex Charge. Once you master that, you can EXecute your judgment when the time is right.

    Also see Gabranth's guide here.

    Good luck!

None of his non-EX attacks initiate Chase.

wss: the easiest way to level him up from level 1 is probably to do party battles first with him in the group. It's easy to gain them that way. Also, this isn't the thread for that question. Just a heads up.

Most of the time you'll be charging your EX Gauge like you're holding for dear life. You can use both Sentence and Circle of Judgment to help you boost your gauge faster, just be careful so as that the opponent is open.

Generally, go to somewhere far away from your opponent, and start charging. When your opponent approaches, block, then attack to get the EX Force scattered.
