I dont know about you guys, but the stat system is something I have to bring up when thinking about FF2, I want to know what your opinions on it were and what do you think's wrong or right about it, for me though i'll have to post up exactly how the stats increase in the game:
(as an aside remember that dying has been known to reset all statistics for the battle you are in)
HP - Simply take a certain amount of damage from any attack(from you or opponent) and you have a % chance of it increasing
Strength - Simply use physical attacks a certain # of times
Spirit(White Magic Power) - Simply use Spells that fall under the category of White Magic a certain amount of time
Intelligence(Black Magic Power) - Same as Spirit but substitute Black Magic for White
Stamina - Same basis as HP, Take hits
Agility + Evasion - Here is an interesting one, to increase this all important stat, you must be targeted for an attack a certain # of times
Magic - Combine the prerequisites of Intelligence and Spirit and make the # alot higher
Accuracy - Target an enemy,(or ally) with an attack
Magic Def - Same as HP except it must be Magical Attacks Taken
Def - Same as Magic Def. but sub. in physical attacks
So there we are, I don't believe this is a correct system, but it definately works in the long run, when i say it isn't a correct system I simply mean this is what took over for Leveling up, it could be a little easier than being able to just sit back and bash your own party with attacks to power level yourself, but outside that simple blemish I found it a new and intuitive way to "grow" in a final fantasy game, now back to my topic, What do YOU all think of it?
With this system I can tell square had good intentions, and they were going somewhere with this, but it wasnt implemented well. If they were to make another ff with this system, they just need to streamline it to perfect it. Then, it could have the potential to be one of the best growth systems in the series. Of course, you have to remember that this game came out on the famicom when square was just a bunch of noobs, so you cant expect perfection.
WOAH check this out! It's SO AWESOME!!!:
