Honestly I really thought that BBS handled the FF characters fine: Not at all (well except Zach, but Zach is awesome and everybody loves him). I was joking the other day with somebody about how stupid KH has handled FF characters in the past. Major lols were had at the fact that Setzer was the starting town's seal clubbing champ, Vivi was a random heartless, yuffie and leon were recurring assistants of Merlin, the FF X-2 crowd were uh...fairies? I also like that Seifer was just there in Kingdom Hearts 2 to troll you. I think it's hilarious how inane these cameos have been. Sephiroth and Zach are the only ones I can honestly say I like. I guess fighting leon and yuffie in the arena wasn't too bad either. I can't even imagine how they'd handle other characters. Maybe Rydia could be a shop owner, Final Fantasy IV's Cid can appear on a poster and Seymour can be the court jester in a Sword in the Stone world.
I liked Zach because he's Zach. Otherwise I think the only good way to inject these characters into the game in a way that won't piss fans off is to make them boss battles (arena bosses in particular). Maybe instead of Sephiroth there could be a super secret fight with Kefka instead, and he could go into his godly form.
I thought the game was fine to be honest. Oddly I thought the story was better and made more sense than previous KH games. Story isn't really a highlight of these games to begin with from my point of view. The gameplay is where it's at. I agree that maybe the disney worlds could have been more expansive and allowed for more exploration though.1)They could have not based the game off of the secret movie at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2. Many things were left in that movie unexplained (Example, the giant thing Terra was standing on fading into Dust, the three in armor picking up Kingdom Key, Kingdom Key D, Soul Eater, etc). They didn't do much with the story for Birth By Sleep, just slapped in a couple of Disney worlds and made Ventus, Terra, and Aqua say "Friends Forever", or something like that. The Disney world were pretty much "go from point A to point B", and boom-bada-bing, you're done.
Again I don't really feel that things were that confusing. The "nobodies" and "heartless" and "Organization" in KH2 went way over my head in comparison. But you have a good point about the characters interfering in the worlds. But then again, if they didn't, it would be a really boring game. The only thing I can really say on this point is maybe that theme could have been brought up more. It sorta reminds me of star ocean's schtick about underdeveloped planets.2)As hinted above, Square and Disney could have made a better story line. Why are the three apprentices all so friendly to the people they meet in worlds? Whatever happened to "not interfering with other world's affairs"? Sora did it in Kingdom Hearts because hey, he's just an amateur. But Ventus and especially Terra and Aqua, were probably all trained not to interfere. And what do they do? They interfere. On top of that, the story line is so broken, you can't make any sense of it until you've played through EVERY character, then go back and line up the pieces. Whatever happened to a straight, somewhat linear RPG that doesn't feel like a Rubix cube?
Man, I feel totally the opposite. I thought NOT having a party was a vast improvement to the game. Donald and Goofy made the previous games too easy from my perspective. And because there wasn't a party, they were able to further refine the battle system to suit a single character, which they did a good job with.3)Character selection and part system. One of the main, unifying themes of Kingdom Hearts is friendship, so why do you only receive temporary allies in the game that only stick around for one or two battles. Hell, Donald and Goofy don't even get to fight with you, that pissed me off! At least one party member for each world would have been a good addition.
Agree with you. Disney Town pissed me off because it was the same in all three worlds essentially. I did the minigames with Aqua and didn't really bother with the other characters. Overall they didn't really do much to vary the adventures or stages of the three characters, unfortunately. I like your idea and think it would have been better. I also played the whole game through on Proud. Also, instead of selecting a character at the start of the game, I would have found it more interesting for you to switch off characters during the story. I have two reasons for this, 1, so the plot makes a bit more sense without you having to start over two more times. 2, to share a same level between all characters (with stat bonuses and reductions due to a character's strengths like Terra's ATK, Aqua's MAG), and a shared collection of abilities, items, and weapons. I think we can all agree that while fighting secret bosses with three different styles and strategies for each character is fun, it's painful and time consuming. And the same with the mini-games. I wasn't about to clear those things three different times just to get the secret ending. Ended up playing on Proud.
agreed, but you have to admit that Leonard Nimoy and Mark Hamill are awesome. Eraqus and Xehanort stole the show.4)Voice acting. Terra's English VA is abysmal. Aqua's English VA is nasal. Ventus' VA is Jesse(motherf*cking)McCartney again. Need I say more?
I think I would have been fine with D-Link if it gave you a selection of completely original commands instead of easily obtainable (and weak) ones. I also liked the D-Link special attacks. Man did I lol when I maxed out Pete's and started running enemies over with a car. Otherwise I kinda agree though. The system could have used improvement. Hell, the D-Link system could have just been special attacks with each character. Like if you d-linked with Pete, you'd just hop in a car and run over enemies for half a minute.5)Summons. The D-Link system was crap, most of the moves I already had set in my ability slot pool. Summoning a character for a quick attack or two would have been much more efficient.
Probably would have been a good idea, but I didn't care much.6)Put younger versions of Squall, Aeris, Yuffie, Cloud, Tifa, and Cid in Radiant Garden. It was their home too, right? Wouldn't it have been much more tied to the original Kingdom Hearts game, seeing them in the prequel? One of the things I was sorely disappointed about.
Pretty good idea. I wish they had a full Fantasia world already instead of that stupid tower though.7)Playable Worlds. The ones that you only see in cutscenes: Destiny Islands, Land of Departure's "Throne Room". It wouldn't make since plot wise, but it would be fun to explore. Lastly, Castle Oblivion in Last Episode. That world would have been fun to explore, seeing as Aqua knows where everything is.
100% agreed.8)Cutscene specific fights. You know the ones I'm talking about. Ventus vs. Lea, Terra vs. Aqua at the beginning. I really wanted to fight those battles, rather than see them (or not see them) be fought.

Make FF villians team up with Disney villians while the respective FF hero teams up with you in 12
epic boss battles.
Only REAL Men use the same move over and over.

Yeah, he has a point there. It is too specific. Becasue do you notice how they sneak in characters like Cid in something as simple as the items shop? It would have to be something like that, not like the whole Kefka and Jecht and Auron idea...
