    Default PSP Problem

My PSP UMD slot is playing up, and I don't know what's wrong with it

I know that it hardly loads when it's on the side, and it works normally flat on the ground. When I have it on the side, it makes a really loud grinding sound. I have dropped my PSP lots of times, and aint too sure on fixing it. Anyone know ideas/reasons/fixes?

The original PSP console. Got it when it first came out

    Same thing happened to me.

Press the little black switch in your drive. Its right behind a little black peg.

It is at the point of my pencil. Hold it down and your laser should start moving. If there is a laser shining then its your motor. If no laser is shining then your motor is broken. You can buy a replacement. There's lots of of guides on how to do this online. Or you could just buy a new PSP...

EDIT: The picture is reversed and I didn't know. Its on the left side when the PSP is facing down.

I could buy a new one, but my mum is really short for cash, because of a lot of reasons (widowed, single, not working) and shiz.

My laser is working, and the thing moves up and down, what is the best thing to do then?

Why, Stezil, I do believe you should pay for it yourself. You could probably apply for Youth Allowance.

    Too lazy >.> lol

I might take it into a game store and see if I can get it fixed.

Can you get buttons fixed aswell? My X button is totally raped, and it's weak as shit

I doubt any retailer would or could fix it. Either fix it yourself or get a new one.

There is bits of dust and hairs around the laser part, would that be it? Maybe? I don't know, and I'm not keen on pulling apart my PSP

A computer duster or air compressor could take it out
