-Basically you can buy the game 8 days early for $75 or wait it out and buy it for $50
-The monthly fee looks like it's going to be the same as FFXI's However, it costs 3 dollars extra to make another character compared to the 1 for FFXI. This is probably to keep RMT's from making an army of mules.

Meh. I guess I'll have to pay it.
Dude, you should have known it would have a monthly fee. It's not gonna let you have it's loads of content and great gaming for free each month.
Goodness gracious, I think I'm gonna orgasm over how exciting this is.

3 dollars for an extra character...
I'll only hope I can actually fit everything on one character this time.
I'm glad that its the same as XI (though, I was sorta hoping they would lower it a bit.)

My computer won't be able to handle FFXIV...The PS3 version will be launched sometime in March, 2011.But wow... I didn't expect it to be released so soon. Did they even start Beta testing yet?

They are giving you retainers which I believe cost $1 each to store your gear on instead. (Not sure if there is a limited amount on these.) So really, you shouldn't need more than one character. BEsides, we don't even know how much space FFXIV is going to offer to begin with. Since we do know that the class system revolves around changing weapons, it has to be a lot.
Beta testing should be starting pretty soon seeing as they pretty much have it ready.
EDIT: I actually found the fees from the FFXIV fansite I go to. All the stuff they find is legit so, here:
Along with release date information, videogamer.com is reporting that a subscription for Final Fantasy XIV will cost £8.99, which each additional retainer costing £0.70. If true, this would have FFXIV using the same prices as they currently do for Final Fantasy XI.
So, Im assuming without the retainers and just 2 characters, it'd be the same price as it is now for FFXI's one character.

Also your first Retainer is free. So they are basically giving you a Character and a free Mule for 12.99
