    Default EX-Mode or not?

Hello guys, I'm not sure if a thread like this has already been made, but I tried searching around and couldn't find anything. If I'm wrong, I apologize!

So basically, I thought it would be fun to play around with WoL for a bit, but I can't really decide what kind of build I was going to use. After some thought I realized I don't know if I should consider using an EX-build.
IIRC you can't combo very well while in EX-mode, correct me if I'm wrong. Though there are still advantages to EX-mode, like the obvious extra hits and criticals, and the possibility of Magic Canceling, as found in this thread.

So, what are the pros, what are the cons?

And what makes you say that?
Why is it superior to say.. a Force Begets Courage build, or anything else?
Can you back up your opinion with some examples or just more information, please? xD

I know that his magical swords of light can do some combos, and he just looks awesome. Plus the magic block is helpful when someone, say Ultimecia, has charged arrows out, and you have got her in a combo.

What combos can he do while in EX-Mode?
Aside from that combo Colonel-Gilgamesh found, that I linked to:
White Fang -> Ascension -> Rune Saber

Is it still possible to do the Shield Strike -> Rising Buckler combo in EX-mode?
So far I've been unable to, though I'm only playing against the CPU.

That's what I hoped to do by creating this thread. xD

Rising Buckler -> Shield Strike is impossible in Exmode, but your major increase in damage makes up well for that. There are also the ways to optimize your combos with Exmode, such as going Rising Buckler -> Shield Strike -> Exmode right before Crossover hits -> Crossover for obscene amounts of damage.
There is also the slightly more complex Rising Buckler -> Shield Strike -> Button lock, fall to the ground, Exmode -> White Fang -> Ascension. Not to mention the crazy extra damage WoL does (not only do you get the Swords of Light that do great damage, but the increased crits on Crossover and Ascension are very noticeable) but you also get the Mirror Mail, meaning you reflect all basic magic as long as you are attacking. On top of that you get the basic stuff everyone else gets (Exguard, Regen, Exburst, ect) so I would say an Exbuild is definitely worth considering (I personally have one on my WoL 95% of the time).

when in ex mode you cannot do the up buckler -> Down buckler / Vice Versa Combo's, you still however, can do all combo's that have to do with wall rush, and fang -> attack.

    Pro's:
    #1 : Magic block = Sex
    #2: Increase in Defense
    #3: [Swords] Increase in Damage
    #4: Regen... enough said

    Con's:
#1: Cannot Do dodge cancel Combo's
#2: Shiny wol makes it almost impossible to hit someone in Chase
    #3: nothing else really
Balthier: I'm only here to see how the story unfolds. Any self-respecting leading man would do the same.

Oh yeah thanks Halla! I forgot about that completely
WoL gets +10 to his def stat whenever he is in Exmode, meaning he takes less damage from any brave portion of an attack. This includes bursts :3 (effectively giving you +20def during the burst, plus you keep that +20 if you survive the burst and stay in exmode.
