    Default Anti-EX Guard?

I've been having a very odd effect happen to me lately. Essentially, Kefka will fire off a Scatter-Shot Blizzaga & I'll screw up the block--but that's not what's odd--however, lucky me, I have a full EX Guage!

So I EX Guard. And here's where it gets odd: The spell, despite being guarded, still goes for me, not Kefka. Moreover, it almost seems like it will revert back to its fresh stage just to hit me (IE, after it's already scattered, I'll EX Guard, & then it will just turn back into a big ice crystal & start over).

Does anyone have the faintest clue what's going on here? Or if any other attacks do...whatever this is?

Edit: Just in case anyone asks, sorry, but I can't post any videos. I didn't think to save the battles, & even if I had, I still haven't moved to the uploading stage, due to a combination of laziness & computer illiteracy.

Well, maybe the hit connected, but since you EX-guarded it blocked the direct damage, but still counted as a hit. I'm guessing it's like priorities shit.

    Like

    Connection = Yes > Deal damage/continue combo.
    =
    No
    V
    Fail

You put in a Ex Guard, so maybe it happened like,

Connection = Yes > EX guard > Deal damage/continue combo.
    =
    No
    V
    Fail

Just a guess. From what I can decipher from your ramblings of bs. JUST KIDDING GOSH

Dude, I honestly wouldn't blame you. It was really hard to figure out how to explain that without having a video.

Or since we don't have a video (OK, that's my last insult), it could be that you thought it didn't hit you, and you EX-guarded after.

Well, deflected attacks make a very distinctive noise.

    So:

    SSB is shot
    You're hit with the Ice-burg
You then go in to Ex-Mode before it scatters
    The shards hit you anyway

    Is that right?

If so, it means if the burg hits, the rest will as well, regardless of Ex-Guard.

What scott said, I've had the same thing happen while fighting against Kefka. If you don't get the timing right you'll just get smacked by the scatter.

If you ex-guard the Ice chunk first it should be deflected back at kefka IIRC

Actually, if memory serves, I've deflected the ice berg once or twice.

This might explain why the spell seems to reform sometimes, though.

That's what I thought, but it doesn't seem to be doing that.

If the berg never hit you, I'm going to assume the scatters hit after Ex-Guard finished.

Which is odd, considering a normal block doesn't do that, & an EX Guard is stronger.
