Bio also has that handy little trait of breaking your enemy if they land an hp attack.

The characteristic you're speaking of is when your opponent successfully land an HP move and after it finishes the brave counter drops to zero, thus Bio breaks them.
You and Zefirus should of rephrased it as "...after they land an HP and when their brave counter is reset, bio could break them", because without those words(or something similar) that statement would sound a bit off.
Just so this is clear for everyone.
Bio can...
1. Break an opponent after they have landed a HP attack.
and
2. Widdle away their brave points causing them to break.

Very nice, i'm gonna pick her up too.
My name is Atomos, meaning... Uncuttable.
I've always viewed Bio as more of a trap than a straight-forward attack; and as such it doesn't need to be fast. As with the Emperor's traps, it forces the opponent to direct their attention to something other than you.
I like trying to mind-game opponents into a Bio:
~ Using Bind/Retribution to tricking them into dodging into a Bio.
~ Trying to position Shantotto relative to the opponent so that Bio is behind them.
~ Using Bind/Retribution as a punisher if they try to get rid of Bio with an attack.
This is a satisfactory guide for learning the very basics of Shantotto, but I feel there are far more necessary things that a Shantotto player must use to survive in the heat of battle. Shantotto has a lot of cards to use and many bluffs as well. She is as good as the player who uses her.
First and foremost, you neglected the in-depth usage of Bio and Bind. Bio is one of the best pressure tactics to place upon an opponent, especially when used with the tactic I like to call...Blood Casting. Not to be confused with Rei-kun's display of blood arts, this is utilizing Shantotto to force the opponent into a mental pressure game. For example:
Say if you get Bio to connect and it begins to work. For roughly 10-15 seconds, the Bio will be draining their BRV in a steady amount. Usually a Shantotto's main way of BRV gathering, but it has a new use. Shantotto mainers should not be afraid to take HP damage while Bio is casted and in effect, especially when you get the timing down for it's damage. By getting them into Bio, you effectively force them to a corner of dealing HP damage to you and hoping for a kill, or if it fails...they get broken by Bio and you gain the necessary BRV for tier 2 and tier 3 spells. This is especially effective on stages like Chaos Shrine Omega and Dream's End Omega.
Your card to use against the opponent: You may get HP damage, but I get the stage BRV at the end.
Bio hits also cancel out Chase mode, which I will find a video to place up. And yes, there is a way to keep the foe stunned for a solid HP connection.
And for shame on you for saying Stun is not to be used. I did once think that, but Rei-kun's usage of it has changed my mind. Stun's effective range is another bluff and more importantly, a shield. Anything in Stun's range of effect can be stopped, this includes High Guard and Omni-Guard. The timing in which to use Stun varies and is rather tedious to list down, but the speed in which it comes out is that impressive. Literally, it is a bluff card that can halt any card your opponent throws out. To utilize it properly, you need to understand when your opponent has openings for stun, and when they do not.
It is obvious you would not stun while Cloud is in the middle of Braver, but what about as he's charging it? Or perhaps a better example would be in halting HP attacks that have excessive charge time and need to be at long range to be effective. Stun will not only halt their attack from coming out, but leave you unharmed. Chasing down Emperor who's about to cast Starfall and you're out of range and time for Retribution to be effective? Get in stun range and stun him, canceling his hard work and you taking one less Starfall.
Another Blood tactic, taking Bind. Bind can be casted even as Shantotto is taking damage. By pressing the input right as the opponent is hitting you, Shantotto will begin casting Bind and it will continue even as you take damage. Do note that this tactic has low priority and needs proper timing for it to be effective. It is very nice to use against a Beat Fang happy Squall.
Speaking of which, all Shantotto players must learn the timing of Bind and it's priority. This will be your biggest threat to HP spammers. Learn when and where Bind will connect, and now that you have Blood Bind as a viable tactic, utilize it to your advantage. Some examples:
- Cloud of Darkness O-Form Particle Beam: Right as the word comes out and even as she's firing the beam.
- Squall Aerial Circle: after the trigger is pulled. Do not make the mistake of using it early.
- Golbeza Genesis Rock: either Blood Bind him after taking the hit, or wait till after the rocks stop spinning. There is also an opening right before the rocks are in position.
And a concern for all Shantotto players, our guard is directly dependent on the attack ACTUALLY hitting Shantotto's body. If it does not, the attack will simply go through as if Shantotto did not exist. You will see and hear the Guard confirmation, but no stagger. Cloud players will utilize this in that Slashing Blow has a 60% chance of negating Shantotto's guard if she's not level with him. This will force you to guard again to protect yourself, or fear eating a potent Omnislash v.5
Hope it helps.
