Bombard counter is especially useful with some setups, mines for example. If the opponent uses a HP attack on you and you counter with Bombard, both of you will stagger. But, due to the absorb effect of most of your traps, they will get hit. It's especially useful against some attacks like Rough Divide or Braver which are easy to guard.

Order's Sanctuary is probably the best stage for that strategy.

I remember when I first figured out that he could just slap away Terra's fully charged Meltdown. Good times.

However, if you do that in DDFF, it'll start tracking her instead of just ricocheting away.
