Anyone know if Cecil got the buffs he very much needed in duodecim?
What are his new skills like and how have his other attacks changed?
I like Cecil as a character a lot and I was disappointed that he had so many weaknesses in the first Dissidia. I'm hoping they made him a lot better for Duodecim.
So say we all.
I can confirm that yes, Cecil got a lot of very good buffs, but one one of them is the one that 'makes him playable': The general speed increase in Duodecim. Before, he suffered from some pretty abhorrent startup and recovery. Now that isn't really the case. Moreover he got one (I'd say two but you can't equip both at the same time) very nice HP attack that will totally solidify his HP game (Soul eater for priority, dark flame for range, Shadowbringer for speed. Alternatively, Light Thruster for range and speed. Paladin force and saint's fall for... umm..... not a while lot >.>) I'll go over his changes indepth if I get a bit of time today (so a little later on)

That's good to hear that Cecil got a speed boost. I can't wait to try him out in Duodecim!

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
I've been using him thoroughly and I definitely agree, he's been buffed extensively. He's faster in general and his two new HP attacks are nice, especially the ground one - it's ridiculously fast, but no range. You sorta' need to dash at your opponent and use it like Zidane with Free Energy. His Valiant Blow also seems to have greater speed and range than before. Also his glitch with Paladin Force still works.
All in all he seems much more viable this time round, which is good news for anyone (such as myself) that used Cecil as their main in the original Dissidia.
Side note: His new alt is absolutely glorious, ESPECIALLY the Dark Knight half of it.

I will second most of what Crisis said. Both his new HP attacks are very good, but the DK one was particularly impressive. It basically is a Free Energy on the ground, and the animation for it [when you hit with it] is very satisfying [just like soul eater, I really like both of these!]. It's a shame both attacks can't be equipped, but for me, the choice is clear.
Also, Dark Cannons range has been significantly increased. It's a serious threat to the enemy now.
Was Search Light > Paladin Force really considered a glitch? I always assumed that that was working as intended, considering how his ranged attacks, in both forms, were meant to combo into various attacks. I think the fact that it hasn't been "fixed" is proof enough that it was intended. I mean, there's no way they didn't know about it, and fixing it wouldn't have been difficult. But I guess you never really know with them.

I suppose you're probably correct regarding the Searchlight glitch. In any case, it's still immensely useful.
I agree, his Dark Cannon's range has been significantly increased. It appears as though Saint's Fall has better range, speed and tracking now, but not as majorly buffed as his other abilities.
On another note I've also found that his Lightning Rise's magic reflect time frame has been increased, so it's more useful for getting through a magical barrage.

glad to hear it. he's the one I'm looking forward to the most out of the returning characters. that and The Emperor.
Why can't he equip both Soul Eater and that other HP attack?
So say we all.
That's a good question. Obviously it's for balance reasons. But why is this necessary to balance him?; idk
Because obviously that would solidify his HP game on the ground AND in the air, and we can't have that >.>
To be honest, I kind of find myself fighting in whatever area I equip the attack to (If I equip Shadowbringer I stick to the ground like glue, but if I equip Light Thruster, then I'm a leaf on the wind.) Honestly, I find that they really give him a solid HP, except for one thing: This game has assists, so EVERYONE has a solid HP game now. So it was kind of too little too late. Still, his other buffs are quite good. The increased speed was all he really needed, and it pretty much makes him playable now, so that's nice. I still find myself completely ignoring (and not equipping) Slash, Lightning Rise, and Gravity Ball.

I think you're talking about his new HP attacks Shadow Bringer and Light Thruster correct? It's because Soul Bringer gives him +3% BRV as Dark Knight and -3% BRV as Paladin. Light Thruster gives him +3% BRV as Paladin, and -3% as Dark Knight. If you had both equipped, the effects would cancel each other out.
