Although it managed first place, Dissidia performed far below its predecessor. The original sold close to 500,000 units in its first week in December 2008.

I think that's a good number of sells. But compare to the first one, yes. It's not as good.

It probably has to do with the hype that surrounded the original. Dissidia was something we never thought we'd see. All the main characters and villains we grew up with, 100% playable to fight one another. Wanna control Sephiroth for the first time and wreck havoc? Go nuts. This is the game where you'll finally do that.

That sorta thing. The first Dissidia had so much hype going for it in that sense. This one is just as good, if not a better game, but the effect has worn off since we've seen this type of crossover before.

If you look at the sales from Way of the Samurai 4 at #2 on the list, it's only about 1/4 of Duodecim's sales. That's still nothing to sneeze at either way. It was clearly the game people were looking to grab on opening week.

Also is this only for the JAP release? because they should expect more for the english release. I know many people that haven't got the game yet and are awaiting its release, I also know people who are more interested in Duodecim than they were in Dissidia and plan to get the copy.

I think it's a nice milestone for them so far
This day will never come again, so let me have this moment.
