Default Into the Abyss~ The Desperado/Feral Chaos Guide

Greetings everyone and welcome to the Desperado Chaos (or also known as the less cool Feral Chaos) guide. This guide is to help anyone new to game and/or Desperado Chaos learn more about him

    DESPERADO CHAOS (FERAL CHAOS)

"After the 12th Cycle, Cid saw how Cosmos protected her Warriors and decided to help the forces of Harmony beat Chaos. Doing so he helped teleport them away after the 13th cycle because he was merged with Chaos.

Shinryu was pissed with this because Cid was given immortality by him and in exchange would be given the power, experiences and memories of the summoned warriors. No more summoned warriors = less power.

Because of this Shinryu and Chaos after the 13th cycle decided to form a pact to get revenge on Cid. The pact was simple: Shinryu wanted the same thing and in turn Chaos would gain more power.

After the 18th, That was basically it. Chaos basically decimated everyone: His own soldiers AND the Soldiers of Cosmos.

At the 20th Cycle, Chaos basically went to slay Cosmos herself indefinitely but Cid managed to save Cosmos' power and seal her in the Cavern of the Earth near Melmond.

At this point Chaos had nothing else to do so he went against his own creators and Shinryu and challenged Shinryu. Cid then sealed the northern continent away to make sure Shinryu and Chaos could not touch him or Cosmos."

    Feral Chaos: *roars*
    Chaos: "Pathetic pawn."

    UNLOCKING D. CHAOS

Unlocking this beast is pretty straightforward. First you must beat the game past the 012 war. When that is done you'll unlock story 000: Confessions of the Creator in the shop, the Duodecim version of Inward Chaos. In this mode are a bundle of dungeons, in order to get started on getting Desperado, you must complete the Cid/Moogle 10 floor dungeon. Afterwards, teleport to the lower right warp point and go to the patch of land connecting the lower part of the map and the upper part. There a 1 level dungeon awaits, with only a Red treasure chest, containing an alt costume D.Chaos with a little under 55k HP.

Defeating him will unlock the top part of the map, where you then must head to where you fought Chaos in the 013th war, going through all the dungeons along the way (where the red rails and such are, at the very top left part of the map). At the end is a 5 floor dungeon with at the end a level 130 D.Chaos with around 130k HP! You'll want a complete line up of lvl 100 equipment on all 5 party members of your choice, and if you want, some arcane raisens. The fight is a 5v1 tournament style battle, luckily D.Chaos has lvl 30 equipment so breaking him is fairly easy. He has access to nearly his entire moveset though, and a Garland assist, as well any HP attack he lands will completely drain your EX meter. Make sure you are fully healed with your best team, and then attack him head on and deplete that very large HP meter and he is yours.

    LEGEND
1:Cavern of the Earth Warp Point
    2:Crescent Lake Warp Point
    3:Citadel of Trials Warp Point
A:Chasm in the Rotting Earth (Cid/Moogle dungeon)
    B:Feral Chaos Fragment battle
    c:Conquered Trials Gateway (Farm point)
D:Edge of Discord (Final Feral Chaos battle)

NOTE:For a really easy time in the dungeons, use the original rule BRV-Centric (or make your own, set every damage related thing to max so battles end really fast, even if you have terrible lvl 1 gear). This does NOT apply in either Feral Chaos dungeon though, so you'll have to do those normally

    STEPS
1)Warp to the Cavern of Earth (Mark 1) and travel a little ways along the beach to the Chasm of the Rotting Earth Gateway (A). Complete the 10 floor dungeon
2)Warp to Crescent Lake (2) and travel North until you reach the bridge connecting the two continents. Defeat the lvl 95 Alt Feral Chaos (Mark B)
3)Warp to the Citadel of Trials (3), and complete and the dungeons along the way until you get to the floating volcano
RECOMMENDED: If you need to get lots of good equipment for the final battle, at Mark c is a gateway with lots of red chests and fairly easy enemies. Simply open all the chests, beat the enemy inside, then when all the chests are gone, exit and re-enter. Continue until you have a full set of lvl 100 equipment for your 5 characters of choice
4)Enter Edge of Discord (D) and travel through the 5 floor dungeon and defeat the Ultimate Feral Chaos. If you're injured/lose a party member don't worry, Cid will restore you're entire team to 100% before you start the fight
    --Tips:
-Make sure to have complete lvl 100 equipment across the board. Even though he is lvl 130, his gear is only lvl 30 stuff (and his glove is a lvl 1 piece of equipment) making hurting him incredibly easy
-Make sure to have one of the set bonuses from the Lufenian equipment if you farmed it, I recommend Seal of Lufenia to keep his EX gauge VERY low
-This is the "final" battle of the game, don't be afraid to use arcane rasins.
-If you're having trouble, I recommend personally to use Zidane, stay above him and spam Solution 9. Remember he may be really high lvl and have tons of health, but he is still AI, and this basically wrecks his AI, and allows easy breaks so you can move in and get a hit
-The Assist you get is random, if it's one you're comfortable with or one that is easy to combo with, use it whenever you can. If not, save it to escape any HP attacks he might land
-His Gold Shuryin summon is rather stupid, a lot of the bonuses it activates will generally help you (Brave Freeze, Brave Swap). Beware of Doom and Feral's 3x after 20 second Brave multiplier.
After you win, he'll be unlocked in the PP shop

In the PP shop he costs 350PP to unlock, and his one alternate costume costs 3000PP (more than anyone else's costumes combined)

    BEGINNING NOTES

Now that you've unlocked Desperado Chaos, I'm sure you'll want to know what kind of character he is. Power house would be a very accurate term, moves with a lot of priority and range. He has the tools to control nearly anywhere and anyone at once, can generate A TON of EX force, has some very damaging assist combos, good tracking, and one of the best HP attacks (imo) in the game. Just what could be bad about this behemoth. For starters, he has very few tools to deal with vertical combat reliably, as well he is VERY VERY large (dwarfing even the normal Chaos in size) so situations where normally you would of dodged easy enough can be a lot trickier with Desperado who can get clipped a lot easier than others. As well, by default he has 3 major powerful handicaps, a percent bravery drain that ticks constantly, no EX force can be gained and no assist meter can be built while they are on, and the only way to stop them is to equip a handicap nullifier for each handicap. The biggest disadvantage though is his CP usage, things that cost 10 or 15 CP for a lot of people range from around 20 CP all the way to 50CP mastered for Desperado, meaning you have to micromanage his abilities VERY carefully

How you should equip yourself is up to you, do you remove abilities to make more room for attacks, or the opposite? I like to have 4 braves (picked according to stage/character/assist), 2 HP attacks (same as before), the basic dodges, guards, air dash (ground dash can certainly be good with Desperado as well, but the problem is without air dash which is usually all you can fit, closing in people can be impossible at times), air recovery, Bravery drain null (which I feel is 100% needed) and either No EX null or No assist gauge null.

Desperado functions best on small stages, with low ceilings, and he wants to keep his opponent cornered near a wall near or on the ground. The farther and higher in the air they are, the more of a disadvantage you have, where you'll be forced to use his predictable dash (normal air dash being the only real choice, unless you have one of the dive moves on) to close in, which can be very difficult against a good zoner. Once in though, use your incredible priority and good range to rip them to shreds and send them back to earth

    MOVE SET
    [The Omega and the Alpha]
Instills boundless despair through the power of chaos.

BRV (All BRV moves cost 30CP maxed)

    Ground

"Snarl"- Feral Chaos swiftly attacks infront of him twice, swiping twice with his claws. Moves forward toward the opponent with each swipe. Can be guarded, melee low priority, leads to WALL RUSH OR CHASE.
    Spoiler:

"Vicious"- Feral Chaos stops for half a second, then jumps forward covered in flame. Can catch enemies above him in the air in his path. Melee mid priority, staggers, leads to WALL RUSH or CHASE.

    Spoiler:

"Spew"- Feral Chaos slams the ground, which creates a fire pool under his opponent, which shoots fire up and if it hits will launch opponent straight up. If used at Point Blank, the slam also causes bravery damage before the launch. If opponent is falling, pool will spawn above them and whiff. Pool creation tracks a pretty good distance, can be guarded. Leads to WALL RUSH or CHASE.
    Spoiler:

"Erupt"- Grounded version of his dive attack, Feral Chaos covers himself in flame and charges straight vertically up, leading to him spinning around, knocking his opponent away at the end. Can be canceled prematurely by letting the O button go. Has melee mid priority, can stagger. Bad horizontal range around him (opponent has to be nearly touching him), hits anything directly above him in it's path. Leads to WALL RUSH and CHASE.
    Spoiler:

    Air

"Destroy"- Feral Chaos spins around, first slashing his claws, then flipping his body using his tail to attack. Can hit anywhere from 1 time to 4 times depending on distance away. Tail part of the attack has VERY good vertical range around him. Moves forward slightly during attack, can be guarded. Leads to WALL RUSH or CHASE.
    Spoiler:

"Brute Force"- Feral Chaos lunges toward the opponent, slashing his arms. Has melee mid priority, breaks through guards. Sends enemy downwards, leads toWALL RUSH or CHASE (Chase timing is VERY strict, have to press the button at the first possible moment)
    Spoiler:

"Splinter"- Feral Chaos stops in the air, and starts kicking, sending powerful flame blasts towards the opponent. Can guard stagger, ranged mid priority, hits 4 times if everything hits. Travels moderately far from Feral Chaos, can fire about 70 degress up or down (from a horizontal plane), cannot hit directly above or below. Leads to WALL RUSH and CHASE (Chase timing is strict)
    Spoiler:

"Raid"- Air version of dive attack, same thing as the ground version except he rockets straight down. As well if held all the way to the ground, will slam the ground, launching opponent away. Leads to WALL RUSH (both versions) and CHASE (the tail spin version)
    Spoiler:

HP (All HP moves cost 50CP maxed)

    Ground

Deus Iratus - Angered God: Feral Chaos starts roaring, creating a field around him. Deals brave damage, and has a medium priority self guard (like Delta Attack/Shield of Light, only body wide). Deals extra bravery damage if you mash the [] button. Launches opponent very far away on hit, leads to WALL RUSH.

    Spoiler:

Quo Vadis - Where are you going?: Feral Chaos stops for a moment, then warps out of reality (which allows you to dodge projectiles and melee attacks), then warps back in. If he hits, will carry the opponent up, hitting them 5 times for BRV damage (last hit also does HP damage, slamming them downwards). During the move can wall rush before its over, but he'll continue the move still hitting them anyway leading to even more BRV damage. Laggy upon miss, leads to WALL RUSH.
    Spoiler:

Via Dolorosa - Deceitful Way: Feral Chaos will slam his tail down once, creating a VERY good anti air attack, followed by him slamming down his tail firing another flame wave to hit a dodging opponent. If at point blank for either blast, tail slam hits for BRV damage with very good priority. Waves dismantle low priority projectiles. If [] button is held at the start of the move, second wave will be delayed for a little, charging it up, releasing the button or waiting about 4-5 seconds will then fire the second blast, allowing you to keep pressure up when they exit hitstun. Launches straight up on hit, leads to WALL RUSH.
    Spoiler:

    Air

Ventus Irae - Wind of Wrath: Feral Chaos roars, creating a close range gust of wind, dealing BRV damage before the HP attack hits. During wind gust, has invincibility. Launches far away, leads to WALL RUSH.
    Spoiler:

Lux Magnus - Great Light: D Chaos will charge for a moment, then fires a laser straight down. Deals a lot of brave damage if everything hits, can move around freely on his current altitude level, can cancel early by releasing the [] button. Has no above or side protection, can drop opponent out of the move if you move to fast/far while they are trapped. Leads to WALL RUSH.
    Spoiler:
    Still missing

Flagro Maximus - Greatest Explosion: Feral Chaos charges for a moment before firing an explosion trail at his opponent. Travels ok distance, rather slow, can relfect projectiles back. Can charge by holding the [] button to increase the range it fires, Is a melee attack so if guarded (omni, jecht or precision) you will stagger. Launches far away horizontally, leads to WALL RUSH.
    Spoiler:

    UNIQUE ABILITIES

Feral has 3 unique abilities to his name, which will disable his 3 handicaps, all costing 50CP mastered

-Null BRV drain: Stops him from losing bravery every few seconds automatically
-Null No EX gain: Allows him to gain EX force allowing him to access his powerful EX Mode/Burst
-Null No Assist gain: Allows him to gain assist gauge, letting his call assists.

    EX MODE

    Severe
Feral Chaos turns into a more magma like state, gaining ATK +1, DEF +1, movement speed increase, regen and critical chance up

    EX Burst~

    Phase 1: Regnum Dei - Kingdom/Rule of (a/the) God
Feral has one of the most unique bursts, as it functions in two parts. First he will grab his opponent and throw them into his dimension, a small round battle field, dealing BRV damage. Then a timer will start at 20 seconds before the next part of the move starts. Until then both you AND your opponent can move freely and fight just as before, allowing you more time to get more BRV for the final attack, making it possibly the strongest EX Burst in the game. You can't be EX broken by assists, but you can be BRV broken and take HP damage. As well if your opponent is able to use there EX Burst, you'll exit out out of your burst prematurely. All BRV moves are unblockable in this area

Phase 2: Nex Ultimus - Ultimate Murder/Bloody Death

After 20 seconds, or if you press R + [] before hand (you can only end it early if you are in a normal state not attacking), Feral will grab his opponent, and in a very cool shadowy cinematic attack, will hold them as his swords impale his opponent MULTIPLE times, which then leads to him in a close up (the colors distorted) as Feral grabs and crushes the POV (the opponent), leading to the screen to flicker off like a TV turning off. VERY cool EX Burst

    COMBOS

Feral, given the nature of his moves has NO combos he can perform by himself. However with assists he can perform some combos. Will be updated soon showing off all his discovered combos using any of his potential partners.

    ASSISTS

Will be updated when I have a more solid list of good assists for him (got a good idea of a few that are though, and working on Cecil's entry atm)

tyvm =3. Assist will be updated fairly soon (been procrastinating hard lol). If anyone has thoughts on any assist (for example Kraid likes Garland so I'd like to see your thoughts on him) feel free to contribute/say something. As well, any combos you discover (if you discover a non assist combo for Desperado, you're my hero xD *realizes its impossible) feel free to post them, and I'll put them into the combo section as well =)

Think i noticed characters getting guardcrushed from brave attacks while inside the EX-Burst dimension.

The attack in question was "vicious" the jump forward dash attack on the ground and it happened against squall.
Soon as it hit Guardcrushed text appeared above him.

Gonna see if i can recreate and test it but i only have the computer to play against for now and it's refusing to guard for me.

If it's true you might wanna add it to the guide.

---------- Post added at 09:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:26 PM ----------

Think this is confirmed now just got the same thing with Eruption against WOL.
