You'd want to check if FF7 is compatible with your CFW, and you might need to download a Popsloader to fix any problems.

Oh, wow. Personally, I'm not liking FF2 much at all. Especially the no-level system. I've probably only liked a no-level system with Mana Khemia. (Love that game, by the way).
I'm only playing it because I'm going up the list of FF games. I beat 1 a few days ago, and I'm playing 2 now. I'm skipping 3 because it won't go on my psp, like every other game, lol. I'll go up to 9, then do Crisis Core, then I'll have to borrow the rest from friends.

Honestly, I really like the no level aspect of it. I dislike it when the game chooses how my characters grow, and I enjoy it when I make my own decisions. If I want my Guy to dual wield axes and have a lot of health, then I do that. If I want to make Firion fight with a sword and a Spear, I do it, and I don't have to bother with the things I don't want, like magic.

I bought the game today. It's pretty good so far, but the game doesn't give you much direction as to where things are and what to do next.
Any hints?
I've got Firion with a sword and shield, Maria with a spear and shield, and Guy with an axe and shield. Firion has Fire and Maria has Cure, I just got Scott's Ring (oho?) and that's as much as I've done.

Well, part of the game's aspect is that it's for the most part free roaming. So honestly, if you don't know where to go, explore until you find something. Just make sure you save often, otherwise you're going to die and lose some data.
One time I spent an hour exploring a peninsula and almost got killed by monsters way stronger than I was. However, I came back with my skills waaay Higher than they should be, and enough money to equip all my party members with the highest gear available. Soo worth it, but if I'd been told where to go specifically, I wouldn't have done it.
My setup is
Firion: Sword and Spear, Fire Ice Thunder (Dissidia setup ftw)
Maria: Bow, Fire Ice Thunder Cure Life Sleep (Rosa from FF4-ish)
Guy: Axe and Axe, no magic (Pure DPS, he has more than twice Firion's health at this point)
And as for where to go for you, now? If you just got Scott's ring, you should be heading back to Altair to show it to someone who might like to see it (He should have told you at least two people who might like to see it)

Yeah, I made my way back to Altair and showed the ring to Hilda and Gordon (?).
I've heard if you spend some time hitting yourself in battle you'll get more HP and weapon levels. Is that true?
-
I haven't tested it myself, but I imagine the growth rate is the same hitting yourself and the enemies. So unless you really want those HP levels, it's probably easier to stick with hitting enemies. I don't see how hitting yourself is an improvement >.<
