Shadowbringer (Dark Knight - Close Range)
Luminous Shard (Paladin - Mid/Long Range)
Neither.
After experimenting a bit with Cecil, trying out old playstyles and such, I turned to his new HP moves, Luminous Shard & Shadow Bringer. I've been evenly matched on them, because simply THEY BOTH KICK ASS 8D
But seriously, they have obvious uses & effective ones at that. But what do you guys think? Which goes better on your Cecil?
Shadowbringer?
Or maybe Luminous Shard?
Shadow Bringer. It can connect after Dark Cannon, like every DK move. Luminous Shard could be used for Assist Punishment. BOth of them has their uses. I personally choose SB, since it looks cooler than LS.

Just like Gray said, Shadow Bringer comes out fast and can be unpredictable.
Hollowed told me that Luminous Shard is helpful to force a dodge out of your opponent. Assist punish afterwords, etc.

Lol. I'm an "either or" kind of person. I just switch between attacks depending on character and stage XP
Some discussion around this came up in this thread as well, so if you don't mind sifting through all the replies, be sure to check it out. Keep in mind, Luminous Shard is Light Thruster in the Japanese version.

Continuing the point, yes, Dark Cannon > Shadow Bringer works, however, I've found that its kind of uneeded. It doesn't do much that Souleater won't, including the Drk.Cannon > Combo. However, using Light Thruster/Luminous Shard can make Cecil even more interesting. I found that I can use two full, completely different strategies without having to worry about clashing them:
Lt.Thruster links in with Cecil's (Paladin) capabilities with bombardment, althought not as proficient as that of Kuja's. Plonking together the normal moves can work perfectly beside any Drk.Knight Drk.Cannon > combo.
However, I cannot confirm it specifically, seeing as my PSP charger is broken, completely stopping me from playing 012 (OTL), so, if anybody could test out this strategy & tell me whether Luminous Shard is more effective in this situation than Shadow Bringer, I'd be grateful.
Shadow Bringer's fun for the speed, but outside of Dark Cannon and Assist Combos good luck tying to get the spacing necessary to land it on your opponent. Most opponents, especially human-controlled, just won't let you get in THAT close to use it. If you really want to though, do hit-and-run tactics with Free Air Dash or something like that.
Luminous Shard, like mentioned earlier, is more for forcing dodges and IMO it's more useful in the long run thanks to Assist Punish. It also reaches far, so using Assists that push the opponent far away isn't a big issue, though it's still pretty stage dependent.
Take your pick, really. I change it up depending on who I'm fighting against and the stage.
Why exactly can't cecil equip both? I mean, I know it cancels out the bonus effect, but it also cancels out the negative effect aswell...I dunno, besides the CP drain it seems viable enough to equip both...unless the game simply wont allow you to, I dunno I haven't played Cecil much![]()
A la Star Wars :P
