So am I the only one who cannot find out how this works? It blows my mind, and I'm not sure if I'm just out of the loop or this is new, D:

How'd you get him to attack differently? If there is a genuine way to get characters to change their moves, this could actually change the game even more.. but if not and only jecht can do this, well that means he is awesome.
I guess there's just game error. Since imperfect JR leads to a Chase, the Assist version will do it for sure...

However, if Jecht as an assist misses the first part of his combo, it doesn't lead to an Assist Chase, either.
Although it probably is a game error, this would make Jecht all the more reliable if you are far away from your opponent, etc. D;

Well, since I mostly only play Jecht (and can't use him as an assist) I can only really guess at this. There are a few possibilities:
- His combos are user controlled by some way... meaning he could potentially do the first hit with no follow up at all, two hits with a chase, or three hits with a wall rush - MAYBE even do botched combos (the sometimes have purpose), and potentially an HP followup for one assist bar if you're able to execute it...
- There is a way to adjust how his brave attacks act in the settings
- Jecht acts differently in certain situations (whether it's timing on the calls, positioning, or the physical level layout... I don't know)
- Or, finally, the video isn't legit and someone hacked his moveset to do that
I did take a few minutes to play around and it doesn't seem you can use buttons to alter his actions, but I'm not the most experienced with Jecht as an assist either.
Find me in the IRC and challenge me! I'd love to play against you!

If someone can find out how to do this on a regular basis ill use jecht as an assist over kuja.
I'm, obviously, new to some of the game mechanics that can be exploited, but isn't it possible that some sort of game edit could have caused that? On the video, Jecht was extremely consistent with only using an imperfect combo, so it would be hard to think the game was messing up since it chooses when to mess up Jecht's comboes when controlled by the CPU. But does anyone know how assists are really programmed? You might be able to edit certain button strokes through a hex editor or some other program. Just a guess, I really have no idea.
watching the video, every time he does that, he hits them against a wall, or into a corner. i think it might be the key

Seeing this gives me multiple impressions.
For one, I'm curious how this would work out on the Kuja vs. Jecht "battle for greatest assist" conversation, because this is a pretty good find if you can make it consistent.
I'm guessing you should comment on the maker of the video and ask what they did.
Another thing I'm wondering is if you can do stuff like this for other characters. Like Kuja, for example, always leads to chase. But, what if you can somehow alter it so that he does the wall-rush version instead. That'd be a great find for him and probably other characters as well. Perhaps like being able to manually choose if Golbez's Glare Hand does the magic hit or the melee hit.
