Stay wired then and apply the guides from there then. Guess you'll go for the plugin's route.

can anyone help me how to portforward? i'm using 3com 3crwdr101a-75 i think i've followed all of your instruction there, but im stuck at the port section. The portchecker somehow can't reach my port, i've already tried many things but it didn't change anything

You can do port forwarding or port triggering. Login into your router's configuration page through a browser. Usually it would be something like 192.168.1.1 (other common ones are 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.2.1). Anyway consult your manufacturers documentation for more detail. You will need to authenticate to login. After that you should be able to find something along the lines of port forward or port triggering.... And if I have your model and make correct you should be able to accomplish that by going to:

    Firewall link
    Then Virtual Servers link

From there you should be able to enter ports, ip, and description.

Narolf should correct me if I am wrong since it was a very long time since I used Xlink Kai but the ports you need are:

    30000, 34522

Make sure to port forward to a proper IP (your xlink-kai pc). And remember to keep that pc's IP static and if you don't your port forwarding is useless since you are not guaranteed to get the same IP dynamically for the same machine. In other words you want to fix a specific IP address to a specific machine. You can do that by associating your pc's MAC address with an IP.

Update: It seems that xlink kai has UPnP support and opens ports as needed. Make sure that option is enabled in your router if you can. Unless you have it disabled for security reasons or that feature is missing you need to port forward.

I must use your vulgar modern vernacular to properly compound insult upon indignity and state: This blows.

No, you have to use one of the adapters mentioned in the OP.

I'm trying to get this set up with Windows 7, and I'm following this guide (I'm almost finished):

    http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39732

The problem is, 95% of the images are broken. The one I need is the one on Part 3, after the part where you have to go to the Properties of your adapter. Narolf, could you reupload that image or at least tell me what I need to put in manually? There's nothing I can do from this point if I don't know what to enter.
