Gabranth is Gabranth for me chaos has the ability to summon warriors even if they are dead... what it matters is what lies within their souls... and in Gabranth case is revenge... and in a twisted way redemption wich chaos can use to manipulate him like a puppet... For me is the same just that he is like "gabranth from heaven.. or hell?"... but the one and only...
it might not be anything but Gabranth has a different accent from his brother. seeing how the VA for Gabranth is basch im guessing he tried mimicking the accent but wen u use the Basch costume, it sounds to me like the VA reverted back to Baschs accent during the start and end of the match.

If I recall from Final Fantasy XII Gabranth refers to himself as a dog at times.
In his EX Mode listings his Boosts are labeled "Stray's Tenacity."
"Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void, but always leads to purifying light."
Honestly, I think Chaos brings a lot of characters back from the dead (for example, a load of his own forces are "dead" in their worlds) to fight by his side. Theoretically, in Final Fantasy mythology, the Rift is the place that harbors all souls after the body dies. Therefore, since Shinryu starts this conflict and by being in general control of the Rift is able to give chaos the ability to bring back fallen warriors from the past.
Now as far as Gabranth is concerned, he sounds a TON like Gabanth does in XII, enough so for that to not be a key factor in who Gabranth is in Dissidia. Next to that, his Captain's Uniform (or whatever the Alt Costume is) is from when disguises himself as Basche and kills Rex after he kills the King in the tutorial story of FFXII.

I was under the impression that Dissidia took the characters from their games sometime before the end of each...game.
At least I always thought so because characters like Squall and Cloud act a lot moodier than they do at the end of the series games (With Squall falling in love and finding the beauty of trust etc etc etc.)
Eh, just my thoughts. With the memory wipes from each Cosmos loss I could be spouting rubbish.
Hard to tell it seems. With some of the information the heroes/villains have it feels like they're in the middle of their stories a bit.
Minus The Warrior of Light and Garland since FFI takes place right following the ending to Scenario 013.
"Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void, but always leads to purifying light."
So where would have Gabranth been taken in his timeline? I get the impression, it's right after he dies.

Who is Gabranth you say? The BEST character in all of Dissida. His anger and hate towards the world make him so
interesting to play as.
"...Darkness...Darkness of the heart.
How is it born?
How does it come to affect us so?
As ruler of this world, I must find the answers. I
must find them before the world is lost to those taken by the darkness."
-Ansem Report I
Um, I'm not sure if you know this, but the best character in Dissidia is Feral Chaos
Gabranth is the best... Sorry.
