I do know some videos cover the Sephiroth assist, but I just want to show these combos off![]()

Uploaded on Youtube for almost a month now, only 10 assists though.
Really tried to make use of Zidane. I have used quite a few of these combos in PVP, excluding the Blizzard ones and found them to be rather effective. Having Zidane sent out right after using flare is good to punish those who try to use their assist to escape it, giving them a good smack in the face! I am aware some of these aren't very practical either, especially since some of them don't really give a good amount of damage in the end but thought I'd share anyways! I would appreciate some feedback, even if they aren't that great. :P

Is aerith a good assist for Onion Knight? I've been using her as an assist for alot of characters lately and I'm wondering how effective she is for him
Thanks vance for my awesome siggy
kewldude and myself discussed this earlier (strange person to discuss it with I know), and we came to the conclusion that not only does OK not NEED aerith, but the second he gets into the air, he has less chance of landing her. let me elaborate.
Onion knights chase moves are now blizzaga and Thundaga, instead of his melee follow ups. this presents an issue because landing blizzard and thunder is much more difficult. she can work on wall rush, but the problem with this is that the only time OK can guarantee his melees will wall rush is when he is on the ground, by following up with either, the brave, or the HP in their respective locations. in the air, it's much harder to ensure a wall rush from guiding swipe, or his brave follow up, because they'll only work on walls or the ceiling.
she cannot connect in his HP attacks due to the fact that they're multi hitting moves that track the opponent, this causes a problem because as soon as aerith locks the opponent, they will be hit by the hp attack, unlocked, and you waste your assist. his HP follow ups flare and quake have such little chance to catch them that it's laughable to try.
wind shear can wall rush at very close ranges, but good luck hitting the wall rush. since you cannot back away from the opponent using wind shear, it's also impossible to land the way that kuja does with one of his followups (the likes of which I cannot remember, its the one where he has the ball in front of him). this makes landing aerith off wind shear almost impossible.
comet? lolno.
blade torrent can wall rush but that's about your only chance with this HP attack, another one of those attacks that follows the opponent.
firaga is laughable because its a one hit HP attack, connecting an aerith assist to this wont happen except in a corner if you're LUCKY.
onion knights wall rush potential isn't very high, and all his attacks that hold the enemy long enough track the enemy, you'd have little chance using Aerith as effectively as sephiroth, or jecht. I wouldn't even really attempt it unless you're going for phantom train, but even then I'd use jecht for the extra damage, onion knight doesn't have that kind of trouble landing HP attacks on his opponent to need aerith assist.

Shuruka, if you think about it, it's doable. You just have to plan ahead.
Thanks to Galadin for the awesome signatures
Onion knight has no need for aerith though. he primary use is to help land HP attacks. this is not something OK needs. nor is it something she makes easier. you have to go out of your way with your FOLLOWUPS no less, to land aerith, when you could just go thunder > flare > jecht/seph/kuja, or blizzard > quake. why use an assist designed to help you land HPs, if you're going to gimp your HP to land another hp later down the line on a charecter whose damage is already lackluster, you aren't going to use a non damage assist with OK to get more damage in before an HP attack when every other assist you can think of can do it, or get double HPs in the process even. yes it's doable, but it requires a lot of planning, and on some stages, wall/ground combat at all times, if someone sees OK running aerith, they'll almost certainly attempt to force the fight off the ground and into the air near the middle of the stage unless they're a ground based charecter anyways, the likes of which (sans squall), onion knight already does poor enough against anyways, and would be gimped even further using an aerith assist.

Backing up that Aerith is a terrible assist for Onion Knight. Aerith has terrible synergy with his HP moves. He does far better with assists like Sephiroth or even Yuna. I might also add that Firaga, which Shuru described as a very difficult to work with option for Aerith to combo off of, doesn't work because Onion Knight will be grounded for the duration of the attack, triggering Cure instead.
