    You never learned anything talking to a wall. (Of course, being Squall mainers, they'd probably prefer to talk to themselves anyway). Joking aside, communicate with each other and show the world how powerful gunblade specialists really are! (Just don't use all your drawn magic in one battle - it takes HOURS to get it ready for the next fight). Videos could help, too!

    Squall's air game is bad, so he's pretty much screwed against some aerial characters, but may push through if he can. He shines on the ground.

    problem is, if your enemy prefers to go in the air and spam magics at you then your doomed. its kinda hard to connect an HP attack when your at the air.

    Uh, Squall's air game isn't bad. Firion's air game is bad.
    Squall has an avarage air game but he does really shine on the ground.
    He is a solid assist builder which provides Squall the oppertunity to assist punish. It's a matter of using the right assist for the right opponent.

    That's what I said. Lol. Anyways, let's start with Lightning to be organized. Is it good or bad?

    I think it's a 5:5 matchup.

    Lightning has the upper hand. spamming blizzara and Watera will cause you to dash towards him in the air.

    Squall's on the upperhand here. Lightning's Blizzara and Waterga are really slow and can be assist punished on reaction when doing so.

    Commando
    Blitz and Blaze Rush are her biggest threats during commando. While She hits hard she has noticeable lag time for Squall to retaliate.
    +Damaging attacks
    +Guard staggers
    -Slow Start up
    -Easily punished.

    Ravager
    Army Of One & Thunder are her best tools to get to Squall. Thunder is without a doubt a good poke while army of one can punish dodges. Ravager gives much more issues for Squall but still, her other spells can be easily punished.
    +Quick attack
    +Decent Dodge punish
    -Lacks Damage
    -Can be assist punished

    Medic
    It's a good tool to provoke players in the air, Is it game changing for Squall? No since he naturally takes a lot of brave in one attack and can use this time to build assist.

    Squall has the upper hand.
    Realistically speaking, Lightning's Ravager paradigm barely annoys Squall. The worst thing Lightning can bring to this match-up is Watera, as Squall punishes it cleanly with ARD every single time. Blizzara is dealt with by assists or Heel Crush, depending on your distance. Thunder and Army Of One are her hopes of getting in, but Beat Fang is more reliable in the long run and will make the difference in the match-up. Fire Barret will give Lightning something to think about, unless she has Watera. But then again, we're back at square one, with Lightning being punished.

    And, while Commando hits hard, Squall's aerial game is better than hers, so she'll rarely profit from Blitz and Launch->Flourish of Steel, unless the Squall player decides to take risks(and I don't see why would he).

    When using Jecht as assist, get your combo in and get out of the ground. For a Kuja assist game, don't even bother going to the ground.

    I'll call 6-4, because the Lightning player will most likely play it safe with Thunder + assist-whiffing and the occasional Blizzara poke, making it a bit harder for you.

    Thx for those detailed explantion vs Lightning. It really helps me a lot!
    But actually what bothers me is fighting agaisnt a spammer like Sephiroth's Shadow flare and you have no choice but to go in the air just to get pawned T_T

    Against Sephiroth I stay grounded mostly and just jump over the SFs. Against spammers in general I play safe if they have tools to punish your aggression and play aggressive when I see them cowardly turtling because they have no options.


    Lightning's ground RAV has less cooldown than her aerials so her ground game can fend off Squall quite well I'm thinking
