Default How does EXP gain work in Dissidia Duodecim?

You might be surprised to note, I'm not curious about this so I can level up my characters real fast. I'm actually more interested to know how experience works, so I can improve the affects of EXP > Assist/EX/Brave/HP

It seems like the makers of Duodecim made it a bit more complicated than in the first Dissidia. So complicated that it feels sorta random sometimes.

"Wow I got more than a 100,000 experience that match." O.o

Does anyone know how it works?
List of Fighting games I play:

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Mains: Yun (EX); Yang

Samurai Shodown 5 Special Main: Galford

Touhou Immaterial and Missing Power Main: Suika Ibuki

Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 Mains: Sakura; Guy

    Vampire Savior Mains: Hsien-Ko; B. B. Hood

Garou Mark of the Wolves Mains: Jae; Rock

Vanguard Princess Mains: Eri Hasumi; Yui Kutuna

and of course... Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
My team is currently: Cloud, Laguna, Firion, Tifa, and Terra.

As far as I know, it works the same way as in Dissidia. You get EXP for dealing HP damage and even more for meeting certain criteria. Like, playing on your calender special day, fighting a higher lvl opponent, fighting a stronger AI, fighting with the chocobo play plan bonus while it's high, using special EXP increasing accessories and so on.

When you think about it, there are a good number of variables so I guess it could seem random at times. The Chocobo play plan bonus changes all the time so that's probably the big offender there.

I think that you get exp equal to the hp damage you deal.

EXP to HP/BRV : converts 5% of EXP to HP/BRV
EXP to EX : converts 0.5% of EXP to EX (1000 unit for a full EX bar, i.e. 200,000 EXP > full EX)
EXP to Assist : converts 3% of EXP to Assist (1000 unit for 1 slot, i.e, 66,666 EXP > 2 slots)
    Totally not gotten from here.

It does seem like it's easier to level up in 012.

im with you on this, getting to level 100 is a breeze in 012, the original i only got Tidus to level 100, it took too damn long to do that for the other characters, in this i've got 6 characters to level 100, and i've not really been playing that much and i've not been power levelling either.

Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice, she strikes freaking everywhere!

    Mains: Lightning, Tifa, Tidus.
    Considering: Zidane, Sephiroth.

I have got the impression that the higher the damage of the HP attack, the higher the EXP gain. I am not sure of it, but if you win by chipping you seem to gain less total EXP than by winning with a single blow. You can try this by fighting with a party and taking out EXP To ___ abilities on your first character, you can see how much EXP the other charactes got.

The skeleton of the EXP formula is this:

HP lost by opponent × (1+AI strength bonus+level bonus+other bonuses) × calendar multiplier = EXP printout

AI strength bonus = 0 through Average, 0.4 for High (Equipment), 0.6 for High (Actions), 1 for Very Hard, 1.4 for Maximum. Human opponents have a 0 AI strength bonus.

Level bonus = 0.1 per level your opponent is higher than you (this seems to be based on your true level, not a reduced level)

"Other bonuses" are residue I haven't figured out yet, likely Chocobo-related. A +0.2 bonus for no apparent reason is common.

Wallrush damage is converted to EXP as normal. Final EX bursts give a large EXP bonus, but non-final EX bursts are only worth as much EXP as the damage they deal.

The formula is linear, so it's easy to apply as (damage × multiplier). Some example multipliers:

×1.0: Human opponents of equal level under Official rules
×1.8: Quick Battle Chaos, at your level
×2.9: Maximum AI five levels higher than you
    ×5.2: 125k Feral Chaos, against a level 100 opponent

A sidenote: in party battles, characters who do not fight gain 60% of the EXP the active fighter gains. All inactive characters gain the same amount.

EXP increasing linearly with damage is a great find. Something I had suspected but really had no way of confirming.

Now we just need to figure out how EXP is translated into HP/Assist

    Spoiler:
    Sephiroth, Prishe, CoD

<ForeverAloneGaruga> AxeL is a bad troll
