Vaan Combo Videos

You know, after maining Vaan pretty extensively i think I am safe saying that I dont really need a combo video. Also, nowhere am I on record asking for one, so you might as well stop thinking that I did. I am not aware of anyone else asking for one either.

And if you want "that spectacular Vaan vid" I have 6 adhoc matches that were pretty freaking epic and posted on youtube in their unedited glory (except I added my own music.)

So, here you go. Mix and match. Watch all 6 and realize that this shit really is pretty spectacular.

Also, they have very effective, perfectly replicatable, and non-gimmiky combos. In action. Versus several skilled humans.

You seem to think that these combos are not practical or something and thats a pretty baseless statement to even imply. None of these combos are in the least bit "gimmicky" to any extent and they work on real human players; I can contest to that. A few of the clips in the video are from actual fights between human players(myself included) and others are against the computer just to consolidate the fact that they hit.

Now away from his video and on to your OH so "spectacular" replays. I've watch a few of them (two or three) only because they were so uninspiring and meh to make it through all six. No offense to any of the people you played, and in many cases I thought it was wack that they didn't win, but I so no amazing combos of any sort from your side so I can't see how these even apply to your argument that his video is somehow bad. But really it comes down to this, if you don't like the video then move on with your life and get over it. I mean its not like he posted it thinking "oh man i hope this guy looks at it" so mind your own. If you wanted to bring to question if they worked fine, but if you were told that they do but you can't land them doesn't mean that they don't work, in fact that sounds like a personal issue and like your not quite as good with Vaan as you thought. Either way, if people whined and complained about everything they didn't like you'd probably remove your videos from youtube and the internet wouldn't be a fun place.

I find it unfair that you lumped me in with Raven in regards to calling things crap. I never said they were crap, I just said there are no breakthrough, spectacular combos in the video.

It's even worse that Jei L is now talking as if Raven asked for spectacular combos. We're not the same damn person, and we didn't even say the same damn thing.

On top of that, the majority of the video is a single Axe Dodge Cancel combo, which is dubious at best. Sure, it's nice someone can dodge cancel with Axe and Shield, but dodge cancel combos in general are pretty unrealistic on the whole.

If those dodge cancels actually work, then some of those combos actually look great.

Nothing too fancy. I used to love playing around with DC and TC combos in the first dissidia, although I never got the chance to play against anyone. It took me a good while, but I'm starting to see why I should love assists.

Sorry in advance to everyone for the poor video quality. I'm not much of a video editor type of guy, and my computer's too old and weak for me to have it in me to remake it, it just took forever to do. Hope at least someone likes it.

Well comparing these videos with the other combo vids that have been posted of Vaan so far I must say that this one gets high marks. It isnt filled with combos that are gimmicky, it include some hitstun combos and overall some that I havent noticed before so I am bound to try them next time I go online.

Wow, thanks. I hardly use Vaan, but I enjoyed playing as him. I had made a Jecht combo video first, but my computer turned it out completely unwatchable. I just applied a few of the things I've been learning about assist combos to Vaan and tried to see what would happen. This is really encouraging, so thanks mate.

I can't be bothered making it, but how well do you think Ground Wall Rush -> Emperor -> Spear -> Spear (Ground Wall Rush)/HP would go?

I originally had 2 Thunder Crests, but the timing was a little wrong. I tried it with Staff, and it wasn't so great, but then I also tried it with Spear -> Spear and it worked, as well as Spear -> HP.

Probably wouldn't be too easy to pull off. Remember that The Emperor appears based on your position, not your opponent's. You could try starting the combo with Torrent, then calling him in after the damage to catch him and give you time to move around.

Actually, played around with it a bit. I had some trouble comboing Spear, but I was able to pull off a Torrent->TC->Cataclysm->Cataclysm no problem.
Also worth trying are Axe/Sword and Shield, calling him just as you go to do the second hit. It'll leave them trapped in Thundercrest and give you time to do whatever.
